(Peaceville) Insieme al giornalista Dayal Patterson i fratelli Sakis e Themis Tolis propongono ai fedelissimi un libretto di 72 pagine che affianca 5 CD, dentro i quali si ritrova materiale dei primordi della band. Demo, alcune rarità, EP, tra cui “Passage to Arcturo”, gli album “Thy Mighty Contract” e “Non Serviam”, oltre a materiale registrato in sede live. Il libretto stilato da Patterson, che sarà autore della biografia ufficiale dei Rotting Christ, ora in fase di scrittura, raccoglie non solo ricordi e impressioni della band, ma anche di amici della stessa, come Nergal dei Behemoth, Fernando Ribeiro dei Moonspell e altri. Questa pubblicazione la si potrebbe definire una raccolta ma solo in senso lato, perché il punto di forza di “Under Our Black Cult” è il fatto che copre massicciamente la fase underground dei Rotting Christ. Gli esordi alla fine degli anni ’80, i demo iniziali, gli EP, split e, come già indicato, i primi due eccellenti album. In tal modo di quel periodo ci arriva anche quell’appartenenza della band greca a una primeva e ingenua idea grindcore, modellatasi poi in tutta fretta verso il black metal, divenuta ai giorni nostri come il connubio melodico tra gothic e black. I contenuti colmano alcuni dei possibili vuoti nella discografia dei fan, oltre a sottolineare il clima che ha prodotto i due splendidi “Thy Mighty Contract” e “Non Serviam”. Tuttavia nonostante la sua utilità, “Under Our Black Cult” è la terza raccolta in un anno, di cui la seconda da parte della Peaceville e sempre dedicata agli anni iniziali dei Rotting Christ. Troppe operazioni di riedizione forse, nonostante poi le intenzioni siano quelle di riesumare del materiale che era di difficile reperibilità e per tanto ambito dai fan più stretti della band del Peloponneso.
